What is Tempor Premium?
Tempor is free, including the rain radar for the past hours and the wind map for 3 days. The optional Tempor Premium subscription (€1.99 per month, the first two weeks free) adds: the Open-Meteo forecast from local high-resolution weather models, every hour for all 10 days; chance of precipitation, wind gusts, UV index and hours of sunshine everywhere; the rain forecast for the next 2 hours and on the radar up to 9 hours ahead; and the wind map for 10 days. You'll find Premium in the app under Settings.
How reliable is the rain forecast?
The first 2 hours come from the radar: we move the rain along in the direction and at the speed the radar sees now. This works well for rain areas and less well for showers that form or fade. After that the radar blends into a weather model (ICON-EU from the Deutscher Wetterdienst), up to about 9 hours ahead. In the app that part is called "Model forecast" and it is less precise. The chance of precipitation is the share of model runs in which it rains at your place. That's why it can say "0 mm" at a 50 % chance: in the main run it just stays dry there.
Where does the weather data come from?
The free forecast comes from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, MET Norway: hourly for roughly the next 2.5 days, then in blocks of 6 hours. With Premium the forecast comes from Open-Meteo. The rain radar uses KNMI (the Netherlands and surroundings), EUMETNET OPERA (Europe) and the Deutscher Wetterdienst (the forecast for Germany and surroundings, and the ICON-EU weather model). The wind map comes from ECMWF. All sources are licensed under CC BY 4.0; we process the data ourselves. An overview is in the app under Settings › Sources.
